To all teaching and research institutions in JLU:

In order to proactively respond to the serious impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, make full use of global high-quality educational resources, enhance the global competency of personnel training, and help the development progress of JLU under the “Double First-Class” (world-class universities and first-class disciplines) initiative, we hereby organize all teaching and research institutions to apply for the “2021 Winter Vacation Global Competency Enhancement Program for Students of Jilin University (Online Program)”, all teaching and research institutions will be funded to develop online courses, professional competitions, academic workshops and volunteer services through the Internet platform during the winter vacation.

The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

I. Application Qualification

(I) Partners

1. The world’s top 100 universities or the world’s top 100 disciplines in the QS, THE, U.S. News, ARWU, ESI, Nature Index and other evaluation systems;

2. Key universities and research institutes in Russia, Ukraine and other “Belt and Road” countries;

3. Emerging interdisciplines oriented to the frontier of science and technology, the major needs of the country and the life and health of the people;

4. World-famous enterprises, international organizations, etc.

(II) Program Type

All teaching and research institutions will be funded to independently design and develop non-language professional courses, international competitions, volunteer service programs, forums for young scholars or academic workshops through multiple channels according to their own discipline characteristics and talent cultivation plans. For course programs, the young teachers of all teaching and research institutions shall be invited to participate in the whole course.

(III) Project Funding

All applicants shall prepare project budgets objectively and scientifically in line with the principle of economy and practicability. JLU will provide project funds in full or in part according to the expert evaluation conclusions, and encourage all parties to raise fund independently. The funding can be used for training fees, course fees, foreign teachers’ teaching fees, translation fees (for translation of non-common languages), etc.

(IV) Applicants

The applicants will be organized by all teaching and research institutions to apply for the program.

(V) Important Notes

The approved projects must be implemented prior to March 8, 2021.

III. Application Timeline

Please send the scanned copies of the above application materials to expert@jlu.edu.cn before January 15, 2021 (Friday). JLU would organize experts to carry out the evaluation in mid- to late January.
